Dis-Chem is looking for a Qualified Clinic Sister to join their team in Graafwater, Sandveld. The key purpose of the position is to manage and operate a profitable, Primary Health Care Clinic that is situated in a pharmacy within the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Grade 12 – Matric
  2. Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  3. Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
  4. Registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  5. Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
  6. 2-3 years' experience in practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  7. Computer skills – Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Advantageous:

  1. Minimum 5 years practicing as a Primary Health Care Sister
  2. Patient Record System & CKS & Allegra

Job Description:

  1. Perform Clinic Sister duties according to industry regulations and industry best practices.
  2. Manage the average "feet-per-hour" rate and set clinic objectives to enhance patient care.
  3. Ensure all clinic services are available.
  4. Keep accurate records of patient details, and ensure communication is followed up.
  5. Ensure that the Clinic is open and operational according to the hours stated.
  6. Process claims accurately and timeously according to industry standards.
  7. Ensure all stock and equipment in the clinic is in a working condition.
  8. Ensure stock is sufficient in the Clinic according to business needs.
  9. Build and maintain healthy relationships with patients, the Store and Dispensary Manager, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, community role players, and other healthcare professionals.

Competencies:

Essential:

  1. Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care and/or occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, wound care.
  2. Quarterly CPD training; in-service training with Dis-Chem.
  3. Strong command of English (written and oral).
  4. Understand the financial implications of meeting or not meeting set monthly targets.
  5. Strong analytical skills relating to monthly clinic statistics and commission.
  6. Emotional intelligence; entrepreneurial flair; trustworthy and honest.
  7. Ability to manage team and self; be self-direct and self-motivated.
  8. Time management skills.

Advantageous:

  1. Bilingual.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of the business objectives.
  3. Baby Immunisation Course (DoH/ Sanofi Pasteur); Family planning (DoH); Primary Health Care Course; Breastfeeding course; Disease management course.

Special conditions of employment:

  1. Willing and able to work retail hours.
  2. Physically fit and healthy to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic.
  3. Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
  4. South African citizen.
  5. Clear credit and criminal records.
