About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a specialized Geothermal Energy Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge projects based in Bloemfontein . This role involves the design, development, and management of geothermal power plants and related systems, harnessing the Earth's natural heat for sustainable energy production. You will work with geological data, advanced engineering principles, and a team of experts to maximize energy extraction and efficiency. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of geothermal technology in the Free State region and drive significant advancements in clean energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize geothermal power plant systems, including drilling, exploration, and energy conversion components.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for new geothermal energy projects.
- Analyze geological and reservoir data to predict performance and identify potential risks.
- Oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning of geothermal facilities.
- Develop and implement operational and maintenance strategies for geothermal plants.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards for geothermal operations.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geothermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in geothermal energy exploration, development, or plant operation.
- Strong knowledge of reservoir engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Familiarity with drilling technologies and geothermal resource assessment techniques.
- Experience with project management and working in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required for complex engineering challenges in Bloemfontein .
