COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a recognised resource in the design and installation of data, voice and video solutions and they are looking for a Project Manager to join their team as soon as possible. Please note that extensive travelling to various sites will be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Coordinate project activities, manage schedules and ensure project deliverables are completed on time within budget by dividing projects into tasks, creating workflows, arranging assignments and providing documentation to internal teams and stakeholders. Ensure accurate documentation, labeling, and presentation to prevent claims against the company.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project administration, reconciliation and reporting on KPI's
  • Maintain and administer project documentation
  • Communicating with the team and external stakeholders
  • Monitor progress and performance of projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Manage risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary
  • Managing schedules
  • Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets for network installations and upgrades
  • Communication from the job site to Project Management and Department Manager
  • Perform administrative tasks including documenting test results, as-built documentation, sign off documentation, etc.
  • Work with stakeholders to clearly define the objectives of the cabling project. This includes understanding the client's requirements, project scope, and desired outcomes
  • Develop a detailed project plan outlining the tasks, timelines, and resources required for each phase of the project. This plan should include milestones, deliverables, and dependencies to ensure smooth execution
  • Identify potential risks that could impact the project, such as delays, budget overruns, or technical issues
  • Assess the likelihood and impact of each risk and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Work with the project team to develop a budget for the project, considering labor costs, materials, equipment rental, and other expenses. Monitor project expenses throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to the budget
  • Maintain compliance regulations
  • Develop a project schedule outlining the sequence of tasks and milestones. Consider factors such as resource availability, lead times for materials, and dependencies between tasks when creating the schedule
  • Establish a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed about project progress, milestones, and any changes or issues that arise. Determine the frequency and format of communication to ensure effective collaboration
  • Anticipate potential disruptions or delays to the project and develop contingency plans to address them. This may involve identifying alternative suppliers, reallocating resources, or adjusting the project schedule

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • Project management qualifications (highly advantageous)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have at least 3 years' plus experience in a similar position
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience
  • Proficiency in project management tools
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • General technical skills
  • Driver's license + own reliable transport
  • Extensive travelling involved

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, demonstrating outstanding ability to correspond with colleagues, internal and external customers and suppliers and ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions from supervisor

  • Previous experience in project management, preferably in cabling and fiber optic installations.
  • Strong project management skills are essential for planning, organizing, and executing fiber cabling projects within scope, budget, and schedule constraints. This includes skills in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Ability to recognize copper cable and fiber cable
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and application of industrial and personal safety behaviors
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations as necessitated by work assignments
  • Wires and cables are color coded for safety reasons; employees must have color vision to help them in their job
