Technical Business Intelligence Business Analyst (BIBA)

PBT Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Intelligence Business Analyst (BIBA). The BIBA plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and IT, driving data-driven solutions that enhance processes, products, services, and decision-making.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in business analysis, ETL processes, SAS development, and a solid understanding of Data Management (DM) and Data Warehousing (DW). While an insurance industry background is a bonus, expertise in BI methodologies and tools is essential.

The BIBA will collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements, ensure data quality, and design solutions that align with business objectives. This role involves the full Data Product Lifecycle, from requirement definition to implementation, testing, and user training.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

  1. Engage with stakeholders to define business needs for data, reports, and analyses.
  2. Assess and validate data sources and ensure alignment with BI solutions.
  3. Document requirements, including Data Warehouse, Data Mart, and output specifications.

Data Profiling & Scope Definition

  1. Analyse business information requirements and prioritise based on feasibility.
  2. Map business needs to logical enterprise models and identify dimension hierarchies.
  3. Define business rules and validate findings with production data.

Design & Development

  1. Collaborate with architects to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  2. Develop transformation rules, state models, and security standards.
  3. Provide on-hand support to development teams to ensure solutions align with requirements.

Testing & Deployment

  1. Plan and execute functional and data integrity testing.
  2. Facilitate user acceptance testing and ensure seamless deployment.
  3. Educate end-users on BI capabilities, develop training materials, and provide ongoing support.

Skills & Experience

General Business Analysis Skills

  1. Business analysis planning and monitoring.
  2. Requirements elicitation, management, and communication.
  3. Solution assessment, validation, and business architecture analysis.

BI-Specific Skills

  1. Deep knowledge of modern data platforms and methodologies.
  2. Proficient in SQL for querying, data validation, and profiling.
  3. Familiarity with ETL processes, source-to-target mappings, and data modelling.
  4. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SAS, Power BI).
  5. Data Flow Diagrams, Process Modelling, Use Cases, and Prototyping.
  6. Risk Analysis, Decision Analysis, and Benchmarking.
  7. Agile methodologies and iterative BI project management.

Personal Attributes

  1. Strong communication and documentation skills.
  2. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  3. Team player with strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  4. Flexible, independent, and able to work under pressure.

Qualifications

  1. IT or Business-related degree (preferred).
  2. FTI or equivalent BA certification (advantageous).
  3. Proven experience in Data & Analytics project delivery and lifecycle management.
