VACANCY: PROJECT MANAGER (CAPE TOWN)

INTRODUCTION AND ROLE CONTEXT

The HVAC Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of HVAC projects through its various stages that will include the design, facilitation, estimation, project implementation, client liaison, commissioning, and close-out.

Strong HVAC Industry and project experience mandatory (last 5 years) coupled with formal HVAC Trade Qualification mandatory. Note this is not a junior role and requires specialised HVAC technical background.

Role Responsibility

  1. Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously.
  2. Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities.
  3. Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
  4. Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  5. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  6. Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.
  7. Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
  8. Produce month-end profit claims.
  9. Approval of Purchase Orders / Requisitions to vendors.
  10. Approval of vendor invoices.
  11. Process Management.
  12. Relationship and Communication Management.
  13. Service and Delivery.

Required Qualification and Experience

  1. Relevant Engineering Qualification in Technical Field, e.g., Mechanical.
  2. 5 -10 Years Experience in HVAC Service Industry (advantageous).
  3. 5 Years demonstrable Project Management experience.

Knowledge

  1. Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs.
  2. Project Management methodologies.
  3. Experience negotiating vendor contracts.
  4. Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  5. Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget close.
  6. Experience leading, motivating and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.
  7. Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  8. Industry-specific software for load estimating, duct estimating, and CAD.
  9. Understands complex technical air-conditioning concepts.
  10. Possesses demonstrated work experience with more than one recognised brand of air-conditioning system.
