Millwright (Lcm)

Overview : An electrical automation business based in New Germany, Pinetown, is adding to our team and looking to place a qualified senior Millwright in our workshop who works independently, carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs from start to finish.

The individual will need to work under breakdown circumstances and have a strong willingness to work with urgency to resolve faults on equipment.

Responsibilities :

1. Assist the company in all technical aspects.
2. Disassembly and assembly of electrical motors (AC permanent magnet and DC motors).
3. Removal and replacement of bearings, checking bearing housings for damage.
4. Changing of mechanical seals, pressure testing of water jackets & any other mechanical work required on motors.
5. Carry out electrical windings analysis to diagnose faulty motor windings.
6. Complete training on encoder alignment technology.
7. Carry out encoder diagnostics and testing (Training to be given).
8. Replacement of encoders and carrying out encoder alignments (Training to be given).
9. Run testing of repaired motors on a VSD.
10. Site work to remove or install servo motors.
11. Logging labour and parts onto job management system.
12. Provide fault diagnosis feedback to management or sales team.

Required Skills :

1. Millwright qualification or electrical and mechanical trade.
2. Mechanical and electrical experience with AC motors.
3. Experience with VSDs advantageous.
4. Good time management and detail orientation.
5. Mature approach to resolving workshop-related issues.
6. A strong drive to work with urgency and under pressure.

IMPORTANT NOTES :

1. The candidate must have experience with mechanically stripping motors, ideally AC & DC & Servo.
2. The candidate must know basic electrical principles of motors.
3. The candidate must be fully experienced with hand tools.
4. The candidate must know how to use bearing pullers and hydraulic press.
5. You are likely to find candidates with the right experience that have worked at Armature Winders; these are candidates we will be especially interested in, but we are not closed off to a well-skilled Millwright working in a different field.
6. The candidate must have a valid driver's license.
7. Candidates with their own vehicle will be favored.
8. Candidate must be based in KZN (No relocations).

Remuneration : R25 – R35 Negotiable. A Consultant will be in touch if you are shortlisted for the position.
