Lead with Excellence in Senior Care

Are you a seasoned healthcare professional with strong leadership capabilities? Frederic Place Home for the Aged is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Nursing to oversee the management and care of our residents while leading a team of 30+ staff members with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.

Role Purpose

As the Head of Nursing, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standard of care, safety, and well-being for all residents. This role requires strategic leadership, operational oversight, and a deep commitment to quality healthcare. You will be expected to manage staff, implement policies, and foster an environment of dignity, respect, and excellence in line with the Older Person's Act.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Staff Management: Supervise, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team, ensuring continuous professional growth and adherence to best practices.
  2. Operational Oversight: Ensure smooth daily operations, maintaining a structured, well-coordinated care environment.
  3. Quality Assurance: Implement and uphold policies that enhance the standard of care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Resident Care: Develop and oversee individualized care plans, working closely with medical professionals to meet residents' physical, emotional, and medical needs.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with residents, families, healthcare providers, and social service organizations to promote collaborative care.
  6. Crisis & Risk Management: Proactively address challenges, manage grievances, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  7. Administrative Excellence: Oversee documentation, reporting, and compliance with all medical and operational regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements:

  1. B. Degree in Nursing
  2. Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  3. Registered Nurse

Experience:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare management
  2. Previous experience in frail care, hospital leadership, or elderly care is highly advantageous
  3. Proven track record in managing staff performance, grievances, and disciplinary procedures
  4. Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills
  5. High Emotional Intelligence & Compassion
  6. Proficiency in Administrative & Organizational Functions
  7. Ability to Work Independently & Make Critical Decisions
  8. Proficiency in Computer Literacy & Healthcare Reporting
  9. Strong Attention to Detail & Risk Management Expertise
