About the Role
Our client, a prominent leader in the mobile technology space, is seeking an experienced Lead Mobile Application Developer with a specialization in iOS development to join their remote team. While the role is fully remote, candidates will ideally be located in or near Sandton, Gauteng , for collaborative networking and occasional on-site events. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative iOS applications, guiding a team of talented mobile developers. This role requires a deep understanding of the iOS ecosystem, a passion for creating exceptional user experiences, and strong leadership skills. You will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our client's mobile strategy and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, performant applications. This is a remote opportunity that offers significant autonomy and the chance to work on impactful projects from anywhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of native iOS applications.
- Architect robust, scalable, and maintainable mobile application solutions.
- Mentor and guide a team of iOS developers, fostering best practices and code quality.
- Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and backend engineers to define and deliver features.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Optimize applications for performance, battery usage, and memory.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay current with the latest iOS SDK advancements, technologies, and design patterns.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in development, testing, and production environments.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and roadmap for mobile development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mobile application development, with at least 4 years focused on iOS.
- Proven experience leading mobile development teams and projects.
- Expertise in Swift and Objective-C programming languages.
- Deep understanding of the iOS SDK, UIKit, Core Data, and other Apple frameworks.
- Experience with mobile architectures (e.g., MVC, MVVM, VIPER).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and common networking protocols.
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for mobile.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and mobile design best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting, with proximity to Sandton, Gauteng for occasional collaborations.
