About the Role
Our client, a prominent entity in Polokwane , is seeking a versatile In-House Counsel with a strong background in General Commercial Law . This role requires providing practical legal advice and support to various business units, ensuring operational alignment with legal and regulatory frameworks. You will be instrumental in contract negotiation, risk management, and corporate governance, playing a key role in the company's strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, offering strategic legal insights and solutions within the Limpopo province.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, leases, and partnership deals.
- Advise on corporate compliance, company secretarial duties, and governance matters.
- Conduct legal research and provide analysis on new legislation and its business implications.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes, including claims and litigation, coordinating with external counsel.
- Develop and maintain internal legal policies and procedures to ensure best practices.
- Support business development initiatives by providing timely legal counsel and risk assessments.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in-house or at a reputable law firm.
- Solid understanding of commercial law, contract law, and relevant South African legislation.
- Proven experience in managing a diverse portfolio of legal matters.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
