Purpose of the job:

We are seeking a Software Application Tester to join our team and help ensure the quality and reliability of our software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of manual testing processes, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for quality assurance. In this role, you will collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to execute test plans, identify defects, and support the delivery of high-quality software.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that the average time taken to execute a test cycle is within the desired timeframes.
2. Ensure quality of reported defects in terms of reproduction steps, screenshots, and descriptions.
3. Measure the ratio of defects found during testing to total defects (including those found in production).
4. Track defects reported by end-users post-deployment.
5. Measure percentage coverage of functionality and/or features from the signed-off BRS and additional requirements added to the BRS in an appendix.
6. Measure the ratio of test cases executed versus planned within the given timeline.
7. Subjective score based on teamwork and contributions during team discussions or sprint ceremonies.
8. Participation in training or upskilling sessions to learn new testing techniques or tools.
9. Prepare and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test reports.
10. Assist with regression testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing efforts.
11. Maintain testing documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and traceability.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 18 months of experience in manual testing or relevant academic coursework in software testing or quality assurance.
2. Understanding of QA methodologies, test life cycles, and software development processes.
3. Familiarity with defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla, TestRail).
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

1. Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
2. Familiarity with basic testing tools or concepts like API testing (e.g., Postman).
3. Understanding of version control systems like Git.
4. Interest in learning automation testing in the future.
