About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and innovative Mine Planning Engineer to join their established operations in Centurion . This role is responsible for the short-term and long-term strategic planning of mining operations, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring safe, cost-effective, and environmentally compliant extraction. You will leverage geological data, engineering principles, and advanced planning software to develop viable mine plans that align with company objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of open-pit or underground mining methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive long-term mine plans , considering geological, geotechnical, and economic factors.
- Create detailed short-term production plans, including blast designs, drilling patterns, and material movement schedules.
- Perform economic evaluations and feasibility studies for new mining projects or mine plan modifications.
- Collaborate closely with geological, engineering, and operations teams to ensure effective plan implementation.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight) for modeling, scheduling, and optimization.
- Monitor mine performance against plan and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design, with a focus on open-pit or underground operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software .
- Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and mine economics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills .
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in Centurion .
