Investment Analyst (Pre-Investment) – Century City, Cape Town

Our Client, a reputable Investment Firm (Infrastructure – Energy), is currently seeking to appoint an Investment Analyst to join their dynamic and growing team of professionals. One would describe you as being a numerically inclined problem solver who has the ability to analyse complex information whilst identifying risk.

You are a highly articulate, self-motivated professional who has a committed work ethic, drive for excellence, and the ability to perform well under deadline pressure.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Sector Research: Stay abreast of industry and/or sector developments.
  2. Deal Origination: Build and maintain a network of deal sources within the early-stage investment ecosystem that regularly introduces high-quality opportunities into the fund's pipeline.
  3. Deal Evaluation: Manage a pipeline of potential investments at different stages of the screening process, with senior support.
  4. Project Management: Executing all of the above within a strongly project-managed work process is essential.
  5. Deal Execution: Support from senior team members.
  6. Due Diligence: Undertake focused research and analysis as part of the due diligence process to understand the growth potential of a mid-market business.
  7. Analyze historical financials and conduct financial modeling in order to value the company.
  8. Detail financial modeling as per the Company's Financial Modelling Standards.
  9. Own one or more workstreams with the Due Diligence team.
  10. Closing: Support the senior team in managing the process of drafting, negotiation, and execution of legal agreements; effective transaction hand-over process and ongoing collaboration with PIM and Administration teams.
  11. Track market developments/press coverage and provide regular summary reports.
  12. Assisting with ad hoc duties as required by or assigned by Management and Senior Team.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance related field / BSc Investment / CFA Graduate or related.
  2. 1-3 Years related experience in conducting due diligence, research, reading financial statements and market data, quantitative analysis on financial information, carrying out financial modeling and projection, drafting and writing research reports, ensuring compliance regulations are met.
  3. Proven financial modeling experience gained.
  4. Solid knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office as a whole.
  5. Candidates must have a vested interest in the investment/private equity/infrastructure industry.
  6. Strong qualitative and quantitative valuation/analytical/financial skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and natural leadership skills.
