Tax Compliance Officer

Our client is an internationally associated Chartered Accounting firm who wishes to employ a Tax Compliance Officer who will be responsible for the full tax compliance function of the Individual and Trust tax clients in their Cape Town office.

This position falls within the Tax Department and the successful candidate will report to all Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities

The role includes, but is not limited to the following:

  1. Obtain and collate tax related information from clients and third parties in order to complete the following returns: ITR12, IT12, IRP6, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
  2. Preparation of ITR12, IT12T and IRP6 returns.
  3. Preparation of tax computations.
  4. Adherence to RSM quality control manual and checklist when preparing returns for Director review.
  5. Checking and reconciliation of assessments.
  6. Attend to all related queries and SARS objections and appeals (i.e. NOO, NOA, ADR1).
  7. Apply for tax clearance certificates (Good Standing, Foreign Investment & Tender).
  8. Registration of clients for Income Tax (IT77).
  9. Registration of clients for VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, WCA, etc.
  10. Perform EMP reconciliations.
  11. Daily recording of time on GreatSoft - manage productivity by achieving the agreed productive hours.
  12. Strive to achieve yearly KPI.
  13. Billing clients with Director approval.
  14. Liaison with clients and management.
  15. Adherence to the profession's confidentiality requirements.
  16. Adherence to the firm's ethics and independence policies.
  17. Guarding the integrity of the practice administration system.
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum required qualification:

  1. Grade 12 / Matric.
  2. Tax or other relevant qualification.
  3. At least 3 years relevant tax compliance experience.
  4. A minimum of 2 years' experience in an Accounting or Auditing environment will be beneficial.
  5. Workable knowledge and proven application of relevant tax legislation and regulations.
  6. Experience working with GreatSoft would be advantageous.
Requirements
  1. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  2. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and targets set.
  3. Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act.
  4. Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.

Remuneration: R CTC dependent on qualifications and experience.
