Main Objective:

This role is designed to support the growth and success of PKF Octagon's newly launched ESG and Sustainability division. The division is dedicated to providing advisory services that empower clients to make a meaningful impact both locally and globally. Recognising the complexity of the fast-evolving ESG landscape, our mission is to guide clients through their sustainability journey with clarity, expertise, and actionable solutions.

As a consultant, you will work closely with the Head of ESG and Sustainability to manage accounts and deliver a wide range of services, including ESG and sustainability reporting, data collection, measurements, assurance, due diligence, and strategy development. Additionally, you will play an active role in supporting business development by contributing to the preparation of high-quality bids and proposals.

The ideal candidate is not expected to have in-depth technical expertise in the field of ESG or sustainability but must demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to sustainability, economic development, and professional growth. A willingness to learn, grow, and adapt in this dynamic field is essential. Main responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Business Development: Assist in writing and developing proposals for ESG and sustainability service offerings, including research and content creation.
  • Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting and Audits: Support the execution of GHG accounting processes and audit procedures. (Note no prior experience required, learning and training offered).
  • Carbon Tax and Compliance: Conduct research and assist with carbon tax assessments while ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation.
  • ESG Services Execution: Collect, measure and analyse ESG-related data. Contribute the development of sustainability and ESG reports. Ensure the validity, accuracy and completeness of data presented.
  • Presentation Development: Create high-quality, visually engaging presentations to communicate complex ESG issues and solutions to clients.
  • Report Writing: Prepare, format, and present ESG-related data and findings in professional reports.
  • Product Development: Contribute to the creation and refinement of PKF Octagon's ESG and sustainability-related tools, templates, and materials.
  • Financial Analysis: Support financial modelling, budgeting, and scenario analysis for ESG-related projects.
  • PKF Octagon's Internal Sustainability Strategy: Support the execution of PKF Octagon's internal sustainability strategy including carbon accounting and NetZero commitments.

General:

  • Ensure that you build a good working relationship with Clients and Management of PKF Octagon.
  • Follow all reasonable and lawful instructions from the Health and Safety Team.
  • From time to time Management will request you to perform tasks outside of the abovementioned Job Description. This Job Description is not exhaustive and will change and grow in accordance with position

Knowledge competencies:

  • Data analytics and Management: Ability to collect, organise, clean, and manage databases with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Capacity to analyse data and translate findings into actionable insights and clear recommendations.
  • Preliminary ESG Knowledge: Basic understanding of ESG frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and relevant environmental or sustainability legislation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, with the ability to create professional presentations, perform data analysis, and draft high-quality reports.
  • Research Capability: Ability to conduct market and industry research to support ESG strategy, reporting, and business development efforts.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to ensuring accuracy in data management, reporting, and deliverables.
  • Adaptability and Growth Mindset: Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt to the fast-changing ESG landscape, with a commitment to professional and personal development.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and contribute to projects in a structured and efficient manner.

Experience and qualifications:

  • A degree in BSc Environmental Science, Sustainability, Bcom Accounting/Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • Previous experience in ESG environment is preferrable but not mandatory
