About the role:

You are responsible for ensuring the development of high-quality data engineering products & services, delivered on time and to acceptance criteria. You will be joining a team with highly-motivated individuals with a strong-growth mindset - professionally and personally The team is currently working on rolling out a new Data Platform for the entirety of Nintex by utilizing the latest cloud technologies.

This is a one year contract.

Your contribution will be:

  1. You participate actively in agile development cycle meetings.
  2. You design, code, and unit test data engineering components and features that can be released / deployed through automation.
  3. You ensure data completeness and correctness through cross-referencing to original data source.
  4. You design and develop ETL's in line with best practices and techniques for data transformation and storage.
  5. You deliver data engineering functions that ingest, sanitize, and join data from multiple sources.
  6. You create data models that meet the needs of management stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts as required.
  7. You analyze and evaluate data product/output to identify and recommend optimizations as required in its extraction, cleansing, and organization.
  8. You identify and pursue opportunities to create or improve organizational data standards.
  9. You take ownership of assigned work and liaise proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure quality features are produced on time.
  10. You participate in technical and team interviews as directed and provide clear input into the decision-making process.
  11. You proactively communicate your work and progress to your manager, extended technical team, and stakeholders during the development process, and immediately escalate any product quality or delivery issues.
  12. You contribute to the support and maintenance of data engineering functions, including liaising with the support team to resolve issues that have been escalated.
  13. You are an active part of the incident management process, including on-call rotation and working with the IM team to resolve incidents.
  14. You work with data providers to document the incoming data stream's domain boundaries, field datatypes, and term definitions in sufficient detail to enable transformation of the data for end-user consumption.
  15. You design and implement data engineering solutions that adhere to Nintex guidelines in support of security, disaster recovery, scalability, availability, reliability, and durability.

To be successful, we think you need:

  1. 3+ years experience in data engineering
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science
  3. Cloud Platform, i.e. AWS / Azure / GCP
  4. Cloud DBMS, i.e. Databricks / Snowflake / Amazon Redshift / BigQuery
  5. Distributed Data frameworks, i.e. Hadoop / Spark / Flink
  6. Programming, i.e. Java / Scala / Python
  7. SQL, any variant is a good foundation but HiveQL / Spark SQL preferred
  8. Source Control, i.e. Git
  9. Database modeling, i.e. Snowflake Schema / Star Schema / Data Vault

Additional skills (advantageous):

  1. Streaming and event-driven systems, i.e. Apache Kafka / Azure EventHubs / Spark Structured Streaming
  2. Data testing, i.e. unit tests and quality enforcement
  3. DevOps platform, i.e. Azure DevOps / GitHub
  4. Scripting, i.e. bash / Powershell
  5. Infrastructure as code, i.e. Terraform / ARM templates / AWS Cloudformation
