We are overhauling our existing customer self-help system and designing new products. We're proud to say that we've put together a fully functioning design system, but we need a new team member to take it to the next level.

As a Design System Specialist, you will:
  1. Improve and expand our design system by developing and refining components to ensure consistency and usability.
  2. Develop and maintain comprehensive style guides, patterns, components, and their documentation, ensuring that our Design System is an accessible, living resource for all teams.
  3. Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and UX designers to ensure components are consistently applied and adopted across different product teams.
  4. Conduct regular reviews of the design system to ensure that all components comply with the latest design standards.
  5. Mentor, guide and collaborate with the UX team through design library activities, such as component usage, existing restrictions, and how to maintain consistency across designs.
  6. Work alongside the UX writer to integrate the content style guide and microcopy library into the design library, enabling the UX designers to easily apply the guidelines to their designs.
  7. Be the voice advocating and driving decisions about our design system roadmap and outcomes. Act as the primary point of contact for questions or issues related to the design system, ensuring that any discrepancies are resolved.
Skills and Attributes:
  1. Excellent communication skills that will assist you in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  2. Technically proficient in scaling systems across platforms; from Figma to code.
  3. Familiarity with the latest developments in design systems and tools; Figma, Storybook, and Zeroheight.
  4. A passion for elevating design culture and mentoring designers to grow their craft.
  5. You excel in advanced visual design skills, including mastery of typographic hierarchy, grid systems, colour psychology, and micro-interactions, with unyielding attention to pixel-perfect details.
  6. You are highly skilled in Figma, and adept at leveraging its full suite of features such as auto-layout, variant components, and design tokens to create scalable and maintainable design libraries.

Qualifications & Experience:
  1. 5-7 years of UX and UI design experience, with at least 3 years focused on design systems.
  2. A diploma or equivalent in the design field.
  3. A strong portfolio that demonstrates a deep understanding of design systems, a successful track record of execution across multiple products, as well as demonstrating a deep understanding of UX / UI design principles with impactful design solutions, and experience with complex systems.
