Quality Engineer (Product Safety Representative)

Required for a reputable automotive manufacturing company based in Kariega, Eastern Cape.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years' relevant experience in the automotive industry within Production/ Product Engineering / Quality environment
  • Knowledge of vehicle functions (Body, powertrain, chassis, electrical)
  • Ability to process and analyse complex data
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate and present at all levels within the organisation
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in new projects with the establishment of Product Safety to implement actions/corrective actions to vehicle safety requirements for the prevention of repeat failures using the Product Safety catalogue (lessons learnt).
  • Inspecting pre-series units with other Q-type responsible PSB's to expedite safety relevant problem recognition and corrective action implementation.
  • Undertaking regular vehicle and line checks to evaluate current production (parts, part assemblies and sub-assemblies) and obtain corrective actions for potential safety relevant problems detected.
  • Representing the Quality Assurance Department during technical discussions with Service and the Product Safety Committee.
  • Ensuring/initiating and assisting in the establishment of corrective action to resolve problems, tracking monitoring of the implementation of agreed actions, and verification of effectiveness within Production/Field with the Service Department.
