About the Role

We are seeking a Junior WordPress / Front-end Developer to join our team. In this role, you will assist with creating and maintaining user-friendly, visually appealing, and responsive websites and web applications. You'll collaborate with more experienced developers and designers to bring designs to life, gaining exposure to best practices and expanding your skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in translating UI/UX designs and wireframes into WordPress themes and templates.
  2. Customise basic WordPress plugins to extend website functionality.
  3. Help integrate front-end elements with back-end systems.
  4. Ensure websites are responsive across different devices and platforms.
  5. Learn how to troubleshoot and resolve website issues under guidance.
  6. Support website optimisation for performance and SEO.
  7. Stay updated on WordPress development basics and industry best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

  1. WordPress: 1+ years of experience working with WordPress, including building or customising websites.
  2. HTML5 & CSS3: A good understanding of semantic markup and common CSS techniques (Flexbox, Grid).
  3. Version Control: Basic knowledge of Git or other version control systems is a plus.
  4. Problem-solving: Willingness to learn debugging and troubleshooting techniques.
  5. Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills to work with teams and clients.

Bonus Points

  1. PHP: Exposure to PHP for basic WordPress customization.
  2. Accessibility: Awareness of web accessibility standards (WCAG).
  3. Design Sensibility: A passion for visual design and user experience.
