The South African entity of Swissquote is a financial services provider supporting independent asset managers, acting as a custodian and broker, and provides financial intermediaries with a dedicated tool for managing their clients and processing stock market orders. The focus is on international/offshore investments. We are a small team and look for a dedicated addition in our journey.

Join the Compliance Department of Swissquote South Africa (Pty) Ltd as a Compliance Officer in the Onboarding Corporate Team. You will have multiple tasks which include:

  1. Analysis of account opening requests from international corporate clients (such as active/passive entities, trusts, collective investment schemes, financial institutions, external asset managers, etc.) from an AML/CTF and sanction standpoint. This includes the review of tax compliance aspects, such as FATCA and CRS.
  2. Drafting of internal memorandums, especially regarding HRR corporate clients.
  3. Optimization of internal processes and guidelines, contribution to the drafting of procedures.
  4. Daily interaction with the compliance team in Switzerland as well as with international trust and fiduciary companies.
  5. Support and advice to the Front line and management.
  6. As we are a small team, we expect an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to also assist with other business and compliance tasks as required in a small office environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor or Master Degree preferably in Laws/Economics or proven relevant experience in the financial services/banking sector.
  2. Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar onboarding position within a financial institution, in an AML/CTF compliance position in relation to complex corporate structures.
  3. Excellent command of complex international corporate structures, especially of trust, passive companies and collective investment schemes.
  4. Strong knowledge of South African regulations. Knowledge of Swiss regulations AMLA, AMLO-FINMA, CDB 20 is a big plus.
  5. You enjoy interacting with people and are happy to travel to Switzerland should it be necessary for training purposes.
  6. Excellent writing and communication skills in English (other languages are an asset).
  7. Strong team player who enjoys working in a multicultural, dynamic, technological and international environment.
