Ensures the smooth and efficient operations of Receiving and Inventory management by working with the team leaders to coordinate the daily work activities.

Responsible for the effective and accurate movement and storage of materials in the warehouse in accordance with standard operating procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, binning, cycle counts, and stock takes.

Key Job Functions
  1. Manage the inbound process and team members to ensure all KPI's and targets are achieved for Goods in, Transfers, Returns, and put away departments.
  2. Plan, manage, and maximize all inventory functions and coordinate activities of Receiving, Goods Return, and Inventory.
  3. Daily allocation and monitoring of tasks and duties.
  4. Performance management including appraisals, RTW, and coaching.
  5. Ensure all supplier deliveries are received, checked, processed, and put away within agreed timelines.
  6. Notify appropriate departments when supplier non-conformance or shortage/overages are found, i.e., Buying, Procurement.
  7. Authorize productivity tracking standards/assessments, supplies, and equipment needs.
  8. Ensure all production returns are received, checked, and put away within agreed timelines.
  9. Continuous review and improvements of operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  10. Attend and participate in Green Area meetings.
  11. Measurement of productivity indicated by DC (Unit/Hour) & demonstrated improvement.
  12. Brief staff daily, weekly, and monthly on operational targets and achievements.
  13. Arrange daily/weekly meetings with staff as appropriate to review overall team/individual performance.
  14. Assist with strategy for new warehouse ventures.
  15. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to track success and/or recurring problems.
Risk Management
  1. Ensure compliance to all Health and Safety legislation/guidelines for self and staff at all times.
  2. Carry out internal health and safety audits as and when requested.
  3. Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
Operational Excellence
  1. Own values and behaviour acceptable – Robertson and Caine values (Code of Conduct) demonstrated.
  2. Proactive participation in own Balanced Scorecard process.
  3. Develop and implement inventory strategies that align with organizational goals.
  4. Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy of inventory records and identify discrepancies.
People Management
  1. Ensure effective coaching methods throughout the operations while maintaining all company policies and procedures.
  2. Coach and groom direct reports for excellence while documenting their progress and cross-training to provide adequate coverage in key areas.
  3. Employee Engagement measured & improved – Develop personnel to ensure appropriate backup/successors in all key positions.
Qualifications And Experience
  1. Minimum: NQF Level 5 qualification / Higher Certificate / Warehouse Management or Business Management.
  2. Ideal: NQF Level 5 qualification in Supply Chain Management, Diploma in Warehouse Management or Business Management Qualification or related field.
  3. Experience: At least 3-5 years' experience in inventory management within a warehouse or distribution centre in a Supervisory capacity.
  4. Syspro and WMS system knowledge.
  5. Relevant Knowledge of supply chain management operations.
  6. Knowledge of reverse logistics processes.

  3. Analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.

  7. Ability to input, retrieve and analyse data.
  8. Excellent working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  9. Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  10. Ability to present organised and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience.
  11. Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment.
  12. Knowledge of boat building – Techniques and process would be advantageous.
  13. Knowledge of technical measurements, procedures with the ability of assessing technical tenders.
  14. Ability to write tender documents.
  15. Ability to take full responsibility and accountability as per the scope of work.
  16. Must be a diligent person with a high regard of mutual respect.
  17. Understand supply chain management.
  18. Reduce costs and make Process improvements.
  19. Contract management and supplier experience.
  20. Project management experience.
