IIE MSA, located on a -hectare campus in Ruimsig, Johannesburg, is home to a diverse range of students from 50 African countries. The IIE MSA Ruimsig Campus in Roodepoort has a vacancy for a Lecturer: Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Academic Leadership & Campus Support
  • Assist with reviewing academic results of all students within the School on campus and implement an appropriate teaching and learning strategy for 'At risk' students and 'At risk' modules.
  • Provide academic counselling and support to students within the School.
  • Support the development of new programmes for accreditation.
  • Develop academic material and assessments on programmes within the School.
  • Provide support to the campus marketing team with specialised knowledge of the programmes within the School.
  • Assist with plagiarism offences and disciplinary procedures.
  • Manage academic support and administrative duties during the campus registration period.
  • Assist with the student tracking process.
  • Conduct student consultations.
  • Be an active member and/or Chairperson of Engineering Committees.
  • Assist with Teaching & Learning initiatives.
  • Support accreditation visits, such as ECSA, CHE and BAC.
Industry, Professional Management & Building Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain relationships with professional industry to support placement of students, bursaries and sponsorships.
  • Facilitate and engage in professional and scholarly activities e.g. Conference Papers and Higher Degree Studies.
  • Organise campus events for the School to promote professional industry relationships.
  • Engage with ECSA and relevant professional bodies, such as SAICE, SAIEE and SAIMechE.
Lecturing
  • Lecture on engineering-related programmes across various modes of delivery.
  • Mark assessments and provide feedback to students in subjects lectured.
  • Supervise Capstone Design and Research Modules.
Student Development & Campus Support
  • Assist with academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
  • Track student success and implement support interventions.
  • Assist in lecturer development and support processes.
  • Coordinate the engineering learning centre (ELC) (teaching assistants/tutors).
  • Coordinate the engineering society focusing on student industry engagement.
Research & Scholarship
  • Promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus.
Competencies Required:
  • Professional / advanced communication skills

  • Proven computer literacy competence
  • Tolerance for operating in a pressurised environment
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Advanced teaching and learning expertise evidenced by a Teaching Portfolio
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • Minimum of a BEng and a Master of Engineering (NQF Level 9).
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer would be highly advantageous.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience in Teaching and Learning (preferably in a tertiary education environment).
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development.
  • A record of research and publication in scholarly journals and/or conference proceedings.
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.
Working Hours:

Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 17:00
