Document Automation Template Developer

Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa Dye & Durham Full time

Development and maintenance of automated legal precedents used by law firms throughout Canada and South Africa. These precedents include both statutory court forms shipped with ACL, as well as general legal documents and correspondence documents customised on behalf of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Document Construction, Formatting and Styling, using MS Word as well as proprietary MS Word-like user interfaces.
  2. Researching and understanding the environment in which a document operates.
  3. Analysing the degree to which the document should be automated.
  4. Marking-up and automating the document using in-house programing tools involving document logic ('if then / else'), fillpoints / stop-codes and dialogs.
  5. Testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the documents developed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  1. Must love Documents
  2. Analytical, structured, organized, methodical and logical.
  3. Must have an eye for attention to detail.
  4. Must have advanced word processing skills in general and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word in particular.
  5. Quick learner.
  6. Good problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to manage time well.
  8. Works well under pressure.
  9. Ability to work accurately at a fast pace and multi-task.
  10. Good working knowledge of Windows Operating System, MS Office, Internet.

Nice to have (but not a prerequisite):

  1. Experience with document automation.
  2. Legal / Law office domain knowledge.
  3. IT / IS background.
