Finance Manager

Dragonfly Aerospace is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our team. They will be based at our Stellenbosch office outside of Cape Town.
The role encompasses accounting and reporting for a specific business unit to ensure timely payments, run payroll, and maintain compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Accounting and reporting: Keeping accounting records in the ERP system Odoo. Monthly period closing process within set deadlines. Annual reporting according to IFRS with audit. Ensure proper preparation, collection, and storage of primary documents.
- Treasury and cash flow management: Cash flow planning and control, as well as ensuring timely payments processing for business needs.
- Payroll: Maintaining payroll processing system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions. Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Ensuring all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements and support internal and external audits related as such.
- Tax compliance and reporting: Ensuring full financial and tax reporting compliance. Timely and correct accrual and payment of taxes. Monitoring of changes in legislation. Working through accounting and tax aspects of future business transactions. Monitoring of changes in legislation.
- Budgeting and forecasting: Collaborating with other departments to prepare and analyse budgets and forecasts. Providing financial insights and recommendations to support budgeting and forecasting decisions.
- Stakeholder management: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, senior management, auditors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and addressing inquiries and issues related to financial accounting and reporting. Providing access to up-to-date, full and consistent management reports to all stakeholders.
- Process improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements in financial accounting and reporting processes. Implementing changes to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the accuracy of financial information.
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing or engineering company, or experience as a single Finance Manager in a company.
Technical Skills- Strong understanding of financial principles and the ability to provide financial guidance to support business objectives
- Sound knowledge of tax regulations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Technology literacy (ERP/Accounting software)
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Devotion to quality and accuracy
- Good interpersonal skills
- Highly organised, self-starter
A BCom/ Master's degree (with an Accounting major) or equivalent. Certification or actively studying towards CIMA, ACCA or equivalent would be beneficial.
