DC Pharmacist (Night Shift) - Midrand Distribution Centre

Dis-Chem Pharmacies' in Distribution Centre in Midrand has an opportunity available for a DC Pharmacist to join the team. The main purpose is to assist in managing all Ethical Warehouse related activities undertaken and/or under consideration, ensuring compliance with accepted South African Pharmacy Council principles and conditions of any licenses and legislation as well as any corporate guidelines. Ensure the Ethical Warehouse maintains license requirements and is in compliance with all rules and regulations related to good warehousing practices.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • B Pharm Degree (Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council)
  • 3 Years' experience in a similar role within a Distribution Centre
  • People and Project Management experience
Advantageous
  • 5 Years' experience in a similar role within a Distribution Centre
  • Transport Management or Supply-Chain / Logistics Degree or Diploma
  • Wholesale/Operational and management experience
Key ResponsibilitiesAdherence to Legal Scope of Practice
  • Ensure registration of Responsible Pharmacist and company with the South African Pharmacy Council (SACP).
  • Carry out the duties of a Responsible Pharmacist and Nominee as per SAPC registration letters.
  • Be part of the decision-making process affecting the pharmacy business.
  • Notify SAPC immediately of the termination of services of the Responsible Pharmacist when needed.
  • Ensure the name of Responsible Pharmacist is prominently displayed over the entrance.
  • Ensure that the pharmaceutical facility is conducted under the continuous supervision of a Pharmacist (legal requirement).
  • Ensure that a deputy pharmacist is in control of the facility should the RP be absent and ensure that he/she is registered with the SAPC.
  • Ensure that all directors are au fait with the latest ethical rules and agree to abide thereby.
  • Ensure that all applicable fees as determined by SAPC in respect of the company are paid to ensure the continued registration of the company as a pharmaceutical business.
  • Apply for and renew relevant licences for the Dis-Chem Distribution Centre when needed.
  • Keep up to date with all changes to legislation affecting the conduct of business and the necessary changes by amending the applicable standard operating procedure.
Adherence to Medicine Recall Practice
  • Handle medicines recall database according to correct procedure and guidelines of the MCC.
  • Ensure that all batches of medicine distributed are batch traceable in the event of a recall and that all invoices carry batch numbers.
Returns and Rejected Goods Administration
  • Ensure that goods returned to the distributor are handled in a procedurally correct manner, reason for returns determined and any further actions followed through and recorded.
  • Ensure that goods due to be rejected or reworked are handled in a procedurally correct manner.
  • Be responsible for the final decision, after consultation with the Production Manager/Distributor, to re-analyse, re-pack or destroy any returned/rejected goods.
Good Warehousing Practice
  • Ensure that all employees are conversant with the system laid down for using and following the standard operating procedures.
  • Take corrective action in respect of deficiencies with regard to inspection reports of the SAPC or the MCC.
  • Ensure the disposal or destruction of scheduled medicines is correctly performed under proper control so as not to be a health hazard.
  • Ensure that all logs are completed by the manufacturing facility, e.g. temperature control, cleaning, equipment maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure that an adequate pest control programme is in place on the premises and at the manufacturing facility, using acceptable food-grade bait, and to ensure that precautions are taken to ensure that product contamination does not occur.
  • Ensure the safe and effective storage of medicines.
Training and Human Resource Management
  • To train Distribution Centre/warehouse personnel in terms of GWP and GDP.
  • To train new staff and ensure that they have the necessary tools and equipment required to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analysing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending action plans.
  • Set employee goals and objectives.
  • Establish key performance indicators, monitor staff performance, and improve performance against set goals.
  • Determine staffing requirements and involvement in the staff hiring process.
  • Ensure that there are training programmes and that performance evaluations are done on staff.
  • Direct, coordinate, assign, monitor and review the work of individuals engaged in the Distribution centre.
