POSITION INFO :

Record to Report Accountant – 6 month contract – must be immediately available / 2 weeks

JOB PURPOSE :

Performs professional accounting work including compilation and analysis of financial data. Requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles and bookkeeping experience. May include any or all of the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries, fixed asset accounting, payroll accounting and any other month end related accounting to finalize the trial balance.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Month End Accounting: Provide end to end accounting duties relating specifically to financial month end for the companies sitting within shared services. These include but are not limited to Fixed Asset accounting, Payroll accounting, Prepayments, accruals, and journal processing.
  2. Ensure accuracy, completeness and validity of the balances reported on in the general ledger accounts.
  3. Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Compile and prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all exceptions are addressed and resolved timeously.
  4. Data Management: Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice.
  5. Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
  6. Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
  7. Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols: Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
  8. Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.

TASKS :

  1. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  2. Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
  3. Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
  4. Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.
  5. Advise clients in areas such as compensation, employee health care benefits, the design of accounting or data processing systems, or long-range tax or estate plans.
  6. Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  7. Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  8. Provide internal and external auditing services for businesses or individuals.
  9. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  10. Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  11. Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  12. Represent clients before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.
  13. Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.
  14. Appraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value, and location of property.
  15. Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  16. Serve as bankruptcy trustees or business valuators.

EDUCATION :

BCom Accounting or higher

EXPERIENCE :

2+ years' experience working as a financial accountant.
