About the Company:

Our client is a leading renewable energy company specializing in wind farm development and operations. Committed to sustainable energy and economic development, they are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and drive strategic financial initiatives.

Role Overview:

The Financial Manager will be responsible for managing the financial health of the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting economic development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, auditing, and economic development, particularly within the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including management accounts and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring efficient capital allocation.

Auditing & Compliance

  • Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and local financial regulations.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Economic Development & ESG Compliance

  • Ensure financial processes align with economic development commitments and policies.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to implement Economic Development (ED) and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on financial aspects of community and local supplier development programs.
  • Provide financial insights to support sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies.

Economic Development

  • ED Management and Governance:
    • Prepare and monitor ED SED budgets.
    • Report to the board of directors on ED SED projects.
    • Report to lenders and funders on ED SED projects.
    • Monitor and calculate termination point and ED SED performance debits/credits.
  • Financial Management:
    • Validate and review the SED ED spend.
    • Track SED ED spend and analyse comparison to budgets.
    • Review and authorise SED ED payments.
  • DOE Reporting:
    • Annexure A: People data, procurement, SED ED spend.
    • Annexure B: Quality checks, oversight, reviews.
    • Service provider SED ED report monitoring.
    • Ad-Hoc DOE reporting obligations including bursaries, education, project information, and SME spend.
  • Audit Management:
    • Audit preparation and management.
    • Prepare audit documentation – people data, procurement, SED ED donations.
    • B-BBEE audit management – skills development, ED, SED, people, procurement.
  • Community Trust Monitoring
    • Monitor implementation of trust structures – strategy, trustees etc.

Business Support & Strategy

  • Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist the CFO in capital investment decisions and funding strategies.
  • Support project financing efforts, including liaising with investors and funding bodies.
  • Evaluate financial performance and recommend improvements.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Financial Accounting Qualification
  • Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of financial management experience, preferably in renewable energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
  • Auditing & Compliance: Strong experience in auditing, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Economic Development: Knowledge of B-BBEE, ED, and ESG frameworks.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software advanced Excel, and financial modelling.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
