  • Support the maintenance of the electronic drawing register and assist in developing standards to ensure effective management, control, and access to up-to-date drawings.
  • Assist in preparing detailed drawings based on requests for final approval and use by Engineers.
  • Collaborate across teams to gain exposure to an effective drawing service process.
  • Provide support with third-party design verification, project documentation, and site design generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining standards and procedures applicable to the drawing office.
  • Liaise with team members and stakeholders to understand requirements, specifications, and layouts.
  • Learn to interpret drawings from external consultants to understand the scope of work.
  • Support in taking site measurements, collecting information, making sketches, and performing on-site equipment detailing, including helping to develop equipment registers.
  • Aid in producing original conceptual designs, giving overall dimensions under supervision.
  • Contribute to detailed drawings that show construction/installation methods, surface finishes, and material requirements.
  • Participate in interpreting drawings during construction phases, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist Engineers with modifications during construction and update drawings as directed.
  • Collaborate with originators on site modifications and requirements to gain hands-on experience.
  • Help maintain a library of all drawings and operational manuals for engineering reference, ensuring proper document management in line with configuration principles.
  • Support the updating and maintenance of the electronic drawings database to ensure accuracy and security.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • National Diploma or Certificate in Draughting, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Basic knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) is advantageous.not sure of software knowledge needed
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Eagerness to learn and develop technical drafting skills.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings (training will be provided).
    • Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate with various teams.
    • Basic understanding of South African building codes and standards is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • No prior professional experience required. Internship or practical exposure in a similar environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
