Industry Drivers : In the telecommunications sector, predictive analytics has become central to driving value from large‑scale, real‑time data generated by mobile networks, customer usage, and behavioural patterns. As telcos evolve into techcos and platform businesses, the ability to productise and monetise AI capabilities across industries such as FMCG, Retail, finance, and public services becomes a critical growth lever. Additionally, as data monetisation becomes mainstream, clients are not just asking for raw data but for intelligent insights, predictive signals, and decision‑ready outputs all of which require robust data science capacity. Organisational Mandate : MTN DataCo is positioned at the forefront of MTN Group’s transformation into a data‑powered, AI‑native enterprise. The organisation is building a multi‑OpCo data ecosystem capable of scaling advanced analytics across internal functions (., marketing, sales, finance, networks) and external markets. This includes delivering reusable AI models, creating monetisable analytics solutions, and integrating intelligence into products and consulting services. The Manager Data Analyst enabling analytics across the multi‑OpCo data ecosystem. Ensuring high‑quality insights feed into AI / ML, data products, and data monetisation offerings. Strengthening DataCo’s consulting and enablement services with analytical depth and commercial interpretation. Helping productise insights for internal and external markets across Africa’s growing digital data economy. The role also supports the consulting and monetisation agendas by co‑creating sector‑relevant AI solutions for enterprise clients, enabling MTN to lead in Africa’s growing $2B+ data economy. Lead with Care Can‑do with Integrity Collaborate with Agility Serve with Respect Act with Inclusion Analytics & Insight Delivery Perform exploratory and advanced analytics on telco, geospatial, digital, and behavioural datasets across OpCos. Analyse ML model outputs from Data Science teams and convert them into clear, actionable insight narratives. Develop diagnostic and predictive insights for commercial, network, product, financial, and digital use cases. Dashboarding & Data Visualisation Build and manage scalable dashboards and performance scorecards for Group, OpCo, and DataCo consulting teams. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability of analytical outputs across markets. Provide spatial and behavioural visualisations to support mobility analytics, footfall use cases, and ecosystem projects. Collaboration With Data Science, Engineering & Product Work closely with the Senior Manager : Data Science in shaping use cases and interpreting model results. Partner with Data Engineers to ensure data readiness and quality for analytics consumption. Collaborate with Data Product Managers to embed insights into DataCo products and monetisable solution Commercial & Consulting Support Provide insights to support DataCo Consulting during client engagements. Package analytics outputs for external monetisation, sector solutions, and proof‑of‑value (PoV) engagements. Translate analytics into commercial narratives that drive revenue, efficiency, risk mitigation, or customer experience improvements. Model Monitoring & Ethics Ensure analytics deliverables comply with MTN data governance, privacy, and responsible AI frameworks. Validate data integrity, definitions, and consistency across markets. Promote a culture of ethical, transparent, trusted data use within DataCo and OpCos. Cross‑functional Collaboration Coordinate workstreams across OpCos to ensure alignment with DataCo standards. Drive thought leadership in analytics storytelling, visualisation, and cross‑market learning. Job Requirements Education 3 year degree in Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Postgraduate / Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a relevant discipline (Advantageous) Certifications in BI tools (Power BI / Tableau), SQL, Python advantageous. Experience 3–5 years’ experience in data analytics, BI, or applied statistics. Experience working with behavioural, geospatial, network, digital or telco datasets preferred. Experience supporting data products, ML use cases, or client‑facing analytics. Previous participation in agile squads an advantage Competencies Proactive, curious, solution‑oriented. Integrity, professionalism, and accuracy. Collaborative and agile mindset. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong understanding of statistical methods and data modelling. Telecom KPIs (ARPU, churn, usage behaviour) advantageous. Data visualisation best practices. Data governance and data ethics principles. Key Deliverables Insight reports and dashboards for OpCos and Group functions Interpretation of ML outputs for commercial and operational teams Sector‑relevant analytical components for DataCo products PoV analytics packages for DataCo Consulting Multi‑OpCo data harmonisation and insight templates Data quality reports and data trust checks Skills Proficiency in Power BI / Tableau.
