Overview: Our client is seeking to hire a SQL Database and Reporting Analyst to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our SQL database environment while driving data analysis to support informed decision-making. This hybrid role combines database administration with data analytics, requiring strong technical proficiency in SQL Server management, data modelling, and visualisation, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining data integrity and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders across the business. Key responsibilities: SQL Database Administration Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. Monitor database performance and implement tuning, indexing, and optimisation strategies. Manage database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions. Implement and maintain database security policies, access control, and compliance measures. Collaborate with development teams to support database design, deployment, and integration. Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, standards, and procedures. Data Analysis and Reporting: Extract, transform, and analyse data from multiple sources to deliver accurate insights. Develop and maintain SQL queries, reports, and dashboards to support business requirements. Conduct trend analysis and data interpretation to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities. Support stakeholders with ad hoc data requests, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems and processes. Use BI and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, SSIS, etc.) to create and present dashboards and reports. Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business units to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions. Present insights and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner. Provide technical support and training to users for accessing and interpreting reports. Key Skills and Competencies: Advanced SQL and data analysis skills with attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for business stakeholders. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Proactive, adaptable, and solution-driven approach. Qualifications: Matric Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in SQL Server administration and data analysis. Strong proficiency in T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and database optimisation. Experience with BI and data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, and SSIS. Knowledge of ETL processes, data modelling, and data governance frameworks. Familiarity with SSAS is advantageous. Previous experience in fintech, banking, or payments industry is desirable.
