Location Fully remote | 9 AM - 5 PM EST Role Overview The Ruby on Rails Engineer will work closely with a Senior Engineer/Tech Lead to own and deliver features end-to-end within a Rails monolith. This role focuses on full‑stack development, strong data modeling fundamentals, and maintaining a clean, scalable codebase while supporting complex e‑commerce and telehealth flows. Key Responsibilities Feature Development Implement features across the stack within a Rails monolith. Build and maintain intakes and patient onboarding flows. Develop carts, checkouts, orders, and subscription functionality. Create internal tools and integrations that support telehealth operations. Data Modeling & Architecture Contribute to data modeling and architectural discussions. Design and refine database schemas in collaboration with the Senior Engineer. Ensure models remain focused, well‑structured, and maintainable. Participate in design discussions and code reviews. Frontend & UX Implementation Build models, controllers, views, and background jobs. Use Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus) to deliver responsive, server‑driven UX. Occasionally implement small React features within the dashboard. Ownership & Delivery Take features from idea through production. Clarify requirements with product stakeholders and founders. Write tests and ensure production readiness. Monitor shipped features and iterate as needed. Collaboration & Growth Pair on complex modeling and architectural work. Participate in code reviews as both author and reviewer. Develop domain‑driven thinking beyond individual endpoints. Qualifications Experience 5+ years of professional engineering experience, including significant work with Ruby on Rails or similar MVC frameworks. Hands‑on experience working within a production Rails application. Experience building transactional systems such as orders, payments, or subscriptions. Experience integrating with APIs and handling webhooks. Experience in telehealth or healthcare environments is a plus. Experience with startup or small‑team environments is a plus. Experience with GLP‑1 or weight loss products is a plus. Skills Strong Rails fundamentals across models, controllers, views, and background jobs. Solid data modeling skills, including normalization, foreign keys, indexing, and table relationships. Motivation to grow deeper domain‑modeling expertise. Full‑stack capability using HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. Experience with Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus), or willingness to learn. Familiarity with tools such as Fly.io, Solid Queue, PlanetScale, or Grafana is a plus. Clear communication skills and ability to work independently with guidance from a lead engineer. Comfort working in a fast‑moving, evolving environment.
