Director of Supply Chain and Logistics

About the Role Our client, a rapidly expanding manufacturing company, is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Director of Supply Chain and Logistics to lead their operations in the Bloemfontein region. This senior management position is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain lifecycle, from procurement and inventory management to warehousing and distribution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics, lean methodologies, and advanced logistics strategies. You will be tasked with optimizing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of goods to meet market demands. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, strategic planning capabilities, and a proven ability to manage complex logistical networks. You will play a crucial role in enhancing operational performance and supporting the company's ambitious growth trajectory in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain and logistics strategies.
• Oversee all aspects of procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
• Manage and optimize the distribution network to ensure efficient delivery of products.
• Lead and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers, carriers, and logistics providers.
• Implement and manage supply chain technologies and systems to enhance efficiency and visibility.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
• Manage the supply chain budget and control costs effectively.
• Collaborate with other departments, including manufacturing, sales, and finance, to ensure alignment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in supply chain management and logistics, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience managing end-to-end supply chain operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and international trade.
• Expertise in supply chain planning software and ERP systems.
• Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Bloemfontein.
• Ability to manage cross-functional teams and external partners.
