About the Role
Our client, a prominent financial institution headquartered in Bloemfontein , is seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer to safeguard their critical IT infrastructure. This is a permanent, full-time role requiring your dedicated presence within our client's state-of-the-art facility. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security solutions to protect against evolving cyber threats. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other security technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and experience with various security tools and platforms. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our client's network resources. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a secure and stable IT environment within a leading organization in Bloemfontein .
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage network security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and WAFs.
- Monitor network traffic for security breaches and anomalies, and respond to security incidents.
- Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
- Configure and maintain network security devices and systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of network design and operations.
- Stay informed about the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
- Provide technical expertise and support for security-related issues.
- Document network security configurations and procedures.
- Participate in security awareness training for employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in network security engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and security concepts.
- Hands-on experience with firewall management (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet).
- Experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Proficiency in configuring and managing VPN technologies.
- Knowledge of security assessment tools and techniques.
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, or CCNP Security are highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment based in Bloemfontein .
