About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding telecommunications infrastructure company, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Telecom Site Acquisition Specialist to join their team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role is essential for identifying, negotiating, and securing suitable locations for new telecommunications infrastructure, such as cell towers and fibre optic deployment routes. The specialist will be responsible for navigating local zoning regulations, conducting site feasibility assessments, and managing the leasing and permitting processes. This position requires excellent negotiation skills, a thorough understanding of real estate principles, and knowledge of the telecommunications deployment lifecycle. This role is field-based and requires constant engagement with property owners and local authorities, making it an on-site position with No remote work option.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify potential sites for new telecommunications infrastructure through market research and site walks.
• Negotiate lease agreements and service contracts with property owners, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
• Conduct thorough site feasibility studies, including zoning, environmental, and access assessments.
• Prepare and submit permit applications to relevant municipal and regulatory bodies.
• Manage the permitting process, addressing any concerns or requirements from authorities.
• Liaise with internal engineering and construction teams to ensure site designs meet technical and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of site acquisition progress, lease documents, and permitting status.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, real estate agents, and local government officials.
• Assist in resolving any site-related issues that may arise during or after construction.
• Stay informed about local ordinances, zoning laws, and regulatory changes affecting site acquisition.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a qualification in Real Estate, Law, or a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in site acquisition, preferably within the telecommunications or wireless infrastructure industry.
• Proven experience in negotiating real estate agreements and understanding lease terms.
• Knowledge of zoning laws, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance in South Africa.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure deployment (e.g., cell towers, fibre optic networks).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to conduct site visits and assessments, often in varied terrain.
• Proficiency in using CRM or site acquisition management software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Nelspruit, Mpumalanga region.
