You will be instrumental in developing innovative mining strategies, production schedules, and reserve estimations that align with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both underground and open-pit mining methodologies as they apply to gold deposits, coupled with advanced planning software skills. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain long-term and short-term mine plans, including production schedules, stope designs, and pillar layouts.
• Conduct detailed reserve and resource estimations using industry-standard software.
• Perform economic evaluations of mining projects and optimize mine designs for profitability.
• Integrate geological data, geotechnical considerations, and production constraints into mine planning.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to generate mine designs and schedules.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and geology departments to ensure effective plan implementation.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost reductions through strategic mine planning.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Monitor mine performance against plan, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in mine planning and gold extraction.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning, with a significant focus on gold mining operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geological modeling, and resource estimation techniques specific to gold deposits.
• Proven ability to conduct economic analyses and optimize mine plans for profitability.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
• Experience in the Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape region or similar gold mining areas is an advantage.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent registration is preferred.
