This role includes but not to assisting the Supervisor/ Laboratory Manager with all managerial and laboratory related tasks, whether it’s on site or in the commercial laboratory. To assist the Laboratory Manager with checking that all equipment are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. To assist the laboratory manager with ensuring materials testing are completed in all laboratory division, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing. The Assistant Laboratory Manager will assist the Laboratory Manager with the checking that the laboratory is clean at all times and will carry out all work related instructions from the technicians/supervisors or authorized personnel.The ideal candidate for this position will be a person with integrity and good interpersonal skills and is able to command respect from those he/she deals with, whilst possessing enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. A successful career in delivering performance against agreed strategic objectives and ultimately ensuring that all quality and testing methods are observed, and any deviation is reported without delay.Job DescriptionAn Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to assist with the accreditation and Health and Safety regulations requirements are adhered to in and around the laboratory.An Assistant Laboratory Manager is responsible for verifying that the correct test methods are followed and immediately report any deviations to the relevant reporting manager. An Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system. An Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to assist the technicians with any job whether it is on site or inside the laboratory as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor /laboratory manager. An Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager. An Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager is to ensure all functions continue as per procedure in the absence of the Laboratory Manager. An Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager Support the Laboratory manager to ensure all payroll instruction, leave forms and other administrative duties are carried out. An Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager Provide training to reporting staff as and when the need is identified. QualificationsRelevant National Diploma or NQF 6 / Grade 12 or NQF4 equivalent or skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through - Recognition of Prior Learning.Drivers License Relevant National Diploma and ten years relevant experience or NQF 6 and ten years relevant experience. OR Grade 12- and 3relevant experience or NQF4 and fifteen years relevant experience. Must be familiar with all Civil Engineering Test Methods under THM1 and SANS.
