About the Role
Our client is looking for a results-oriented Senior Mining Engineer to join their operational team in the Port Elizabeth area. This role is integral to the day-to-day management and optimization of underground mining activities, focusing on safety, efficiency, and productivity. You will be responsible for developing and implementing mine plans, managing resources, and ensuring the successful extraction of ore. This position offers a challenging and rewarding career opportunity within a significant mining operation in the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage short-term and long-term mine operational plans.
- Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
- Supervise and mentor a team of mining engineers, supervisors, and operational staff.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
- Manage mining equipment and resources effectively to meet production targets.
- Collaborate with other departments, including geology, surveying, and maintenance, to ensure integrated operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine operations, with increasing responsibility.
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods and best practices.
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
