Mid-Level Graphic Designer

As a mid-level graphic designer, you will be responsible supporting day to day design needs for the agency, implementing design solutions that are on-brand, while meeting the goals of the business. This role will be hands-on, working directly with the creative director and account teams on cross-functional marketing and product campaigns across different client brands. You must be a creative, unique thinker able to work on brilliantly executed pitches from start to finish.

Main functions of the role:

Client management

  • Using innovation to redefine a design brief and meet the constraints of cost, time and clients.
  • Contributing ideas and design artwork to the overall brief.
  • Producing visual solutions to the communication needs of clients, using a mix of creative skills and commercial awareness.

Creative process

  • Involvement in and contribution to creative process.
  • Involvement from design to reproduction.
  • Development of multimedia proposals and presentations.
  • Development of e-mailers and electronic invitations and communications.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos and internet websites.
  • Involvement in print design and production management.
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas.
  • Stay on top of trends and drive innovations and new ideas. Develop new services.

Project management

  • Liaising with the traffic manager and client services teams regarding the progress of work.
  • Taking briefs from the client services teams submitted through CHASE.
  • Creative input for new concepts and proposals.
  • Meeting client services teams to discuss their needs.
  • Be able to work to strict deadlines and under time pressure.  You will need to be able to manage stress and follow instructions given at times.
  • You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines and work on more than one brief/project at a time.

Skills required

  • Proven graphic designing experience.
  • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality
  • Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas.
  • Up to date with industry leading software and technologies (InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Highly proficient in all design aspects
  • Professionalism regarding time, costs and deadlines
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. MS Office: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Animation skills and working in After Effects is a bonus.

Experience level:

  • 2-4 years’ experience within advertising agency

Remuneration: R24000 – R32000 per month cost-to-company
