Compliance Specialist Location: Johannesburg • Full time • Posted today • Closing date: October 21 Responsibilities Monitor processes and related controls in accordance with compliance methodology and minimum standards, and provide robust regulatory compliance advice and guidance. Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with relevant peers and stakeholders to achieve productivity synergies. Facilitate compliance risk assessment and evaluate the effectiveness of established controls, providing adequate, effective, and efficient compliance risk management controls. Create compliance risk management plans, monitor ongoing business compliance to control frameworks, report and elevate incidents of non‑compliance to the Risk Manager, and follow up on corrective measures. Utilize root cause analysis to understand issues across the business, monitor reviews, conduct trend analysis, and determine actions appropriate to a specific business environment. Perform audit testing and complete documentation of planning, testing, and findings in line with the Compliance methodology. Create reports summarising major findings, issues, and outstanding remediation items; identify risks and controls. Advise and support stakeholders on execution of relevant legislation, frameworks, processes, and tools. Provide an advisory service and consult with business to recommend controls and processes to ensure legislative compliance. Implement compliance‑related campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of compliance and provide staff with knowledge and skills. Qualifications Experience: working in a technical environmental role would be an advantage. Bachelor’s degree (business‑related discipline, Legal, Compliance or Auditing). Postgraduate Diploma in Compliance, Risk Management, or related field. 3+ years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Regulatory, Audit or similar environment. Preferably in a financial institution. Knowledge of Consumer Protection Law, Data Privacy legislation, Electronic Communications legislation, or Financial Crime Legislation (preferred).
