About the Role
Our client, a leading consultancy in the energy sector, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Polokwane, Limpopo . This is a critical role focused on designing and overseeing the implementation of advanced power systems for various industrial and commercial projects across the region. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical infrastructure, working on projects that are vital to the development of the local economy. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical power systems, including schematics, single-line diagrams, and control systems.
- Conduct detailed load flow, short circuit, and protection studies using industry-standard software.
- Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documentation for electrical equipment and installations.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
- Perform site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical installations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative electrical engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on power systems.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in electrical design and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD Electrical).
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards such as SANS, IEC, and NEC.
- Proven experience in project management and client liaison.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the South African energy sector, particularly in Limpopo , would be advantageous.
