JOB PURPOSE Calculate and estimate cost for Electrical & Engineering tender projects. Bidding on or determining the price of electrical/industrial tenders/projects. This role is crucial in determining project feasibility, preparing competitive bids and ensuring profitability. QUALIFICATIONS Matric (Grade 12) ND in Electrical Engineering PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP PREFFERED Project Management Accreditation ECSA Membership Member of a Proposals Professional Body EXPERIENCE 3-5 years of formal estimating experience on industrial electrical projects 3-5 years experience in reading and analysing RFPs and RFQs Experience in reading and analysing technical requirements and drawings REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE General tender/contractual processes requirements and terminology Cost and work package estimation techniques Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and manipulating calculations Basic understanding of financial concepts Basic understanding of electrical and automation engineering concepts, components, systems, methodologies, and processes REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Communication Effectiveness in listening to others expressing ideas clearly both orally and in writing and providing relevant and timely information to management, co-workers, subordinates and customers Administration effectiveness in planning, organising and effectively handling activities and eliminating unnecessary activities Initiative willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges Drive and Commitment – the ability to set and achieve the highest possible standards of performance for oneself; ability to act on own initiative Independence – effectiveness in time management; initiative and independent action within prescribed limits Judgment – The ability to evaluate information (tender) carefully consider a wide range of possibilities and display logical reasoning Adaptability – The ability to set and adjust them as needed when unexpected situations arise to improve efficiency and customer service Meet Deadlines – Be able to work in deadline‑driven environments and work with teams to complete projects Dependability – measures how well employee complies with instructions and performs under unusual circumstances; consider record of attendance and punctuality Benefits Vehicle Allowance Cell / Data Allowance Group Risk / Life & Funeral Cover Medical Aid & Vitality Provident Fund Professional Membership Incentive Required Skills EXPERIENCE 3-5 years Experience of formal estimating and pricing bids and proposal experience in an electrical engineering environment industrial electrical projects and tenders including experience with Motor Control Centers (MCC) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) projects. 3.5 years Experience in reading and analysing requests for proposal (RFPs) and requests for quotation (RFQs). Experience with reading and analyzing technical requirements and drawings with knowledge of Variable Speed Drives and SCADA systems.
