Area Manager – African Sales Company (ASCO) Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa Join to apply for the Area Manager role at African Sales Company (ASCO) . This position offers the opportunity to manage sell‑in and sell‑through of assigned brands within the designated area. Key Responsibilities Communicate sales targets to Brand Ambassadors (BAs). Increase in‑store sales volumes and monitor in‑store pricing. Ensure limited out‑of‑stocks and minimise credit notes. Monitor sales, drive ad‑hoc promotions, and develop alternative strategies to boost sales. Conduct individual discussions on sales performance vs. targets with BAs. Negotiate space and location allocations in line with brand performance. Schedule appointments and oversee call cycles. Maintain relationships with store and floor managers; provide continuous feedback on competitor activities, promotions, innovations, pricing, planograms. Collaborate with store personnel on stock holdings, promotions, launches, deliveries, credit notes, special deliveries, staff, pricing, and planograms. Plan and manage animation, spray events, training needs, and display promotion exposure. Compile daily call reports and monthly reports to NSM. Manage non‑EDI and EDI accounts, ensuring accurate stock levels and data integrity. Minimise returns and facilitate promotion implementation. Ensure brand equity and planograms are maintained; keep shelves clean and tidy. Coordinate promotional activities and ensure staff understanding of objectives. Prepare necessary information for each customer call and maintain updated reports. Configure monthly sales data from key retailers (Edgars, Truworths, Foschini, Woolworths). Utilise merchandising guidelines, floor planograms, and visual display information effectively. Submit digital pictures of launch and promotion events for Brand Managers. Required Qualifications Matric and related Diploma or Degree. At least 5 years of experience in the fragrance/cosmetics industry. Excellent PC literacy (Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Code 8 driver’s licence and safe driving record. Strong knowledge of promotions, shelf layouts, and competitor products. Familiarity with merchandising guidelines and retail standards. Good knowledge of the Cape Town territory. Knowledge of products and a personal flair for the sector. Desired Skills Sales Management experience. Experience with luxury brands. Staff coaching and development. Retail experience. Team motivation and performance review skills. Desired Work Experience 2 to 5 years Retail experience. 2 to 5 years Middle / Department Management experience. Attributes Team player, excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. High attention to detail and organisational abilities. Excellent relationship building, selling, and problem‑solving skills. Self‑motivated, high initiative, leadership, motivational, assertive, high energy levels, proactive. Safe driver.
