About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Geophysicist with a focus on exploration to join their team based in Rustenburg . This role is pivotal in identifying potential hydrocarbon reserves by analyzing seismic, magnetic, and gravity data. You will work closely with geological teams to interpret subsurface data and guide exploration efforts. This is a prime opportunity for a skilled geophysicist to make significant contributions to the company's exploration strategy within the North West province, contributing to the discovery of new energy resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and interpret seismic, magnetic, and gravity data to identify geological structures and potential hydrocarbon traps.
- Utilize geophysical software and modeling tools to create subsurface interpretations.
- Integrate geophysical data with geological models and well data for comprehensive prospect evaluation.
- Design and plan geophysical surveys, including seismic acquisition and processing parameters.
- Prepare detailed geophysical reports and present findings to exploration teams and management.
- Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers on exploration project objectives.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or a related Earth Science discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in geophysical exploration, with a strong emphasis on seismic interpretation.
- Proficiency in industry-standard geophysical software (e.g., HampsonRussell, OpendTect, Geovation).
- Solid understanding of geological principles and their application to exploration.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong written/verbal communication abilities.
