Dometic Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Testing & Compliance Engineer The Testing and Compliance Engineer ensures that all Front Runner products meet applicable regulatory, safety, and legal requirements across global markets. The role combines regulatory expertise with hands‑on engineering validation, including planning and execution of product testing, analysis, and certification. The engineer collaborates with engineering, R&D, legal, sourcing, and production teams throughout the product lifecycle and serves as the local compliance expert for South Africa while coordinating with international compliance specialists in Europe, the USA, and Australia. Primary Responsibilities / Duties Compliance & Regulatory Ensure Front Runner adheres to relevant laws, regulations and internal policies regarding product design, safety and materials across global markets. Collect, analyse and monitor South African legislation, regulations and standards applicable to Front Runner products. Work with compliance experts in the various regions where Front Runner products are being sold to monitor, collect and analyse the applicable legislation, regulations and standards. Develop in‑house design and testing standards to ensure all newly developed products meet compliance requirements. Work closely with suppliers of raw materials, components and outsourced products to ensure alignment with compliance requirements. Investigate changes in global requirements and proactively determine the impact on Front Runner and coordinate necessary initiatives to maintain compliance status. Coordinate product certification processes with relevant authorities. Engage with industry bodies and standards organizations to stay ahead of regulatory trends. Carry out risk assessments on Front Runner products and ensure identified risks are mitigated appropriately. Create and maintain product compliance records. Testing and Validation Plan, execute and document product testing and validation activities according to industry standards, regulatory requirements and internal protocols. Develop and maintain test plans, procedures and reports for new and existing products. Perform engineering calculations and analyses including finite element analysis (FEA) to validate product performance, durability and safety. Oversee and conduct laboratory and field testing, including mechanical, environmental, and functional tests. Analyse test results, identify root causes of failures and recommend corrective actions. Support engineering and product development teams in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues identified during testing. What do we offer? Desired Experience & Qualification Technical degree, preferably B.Eng, B.Tech in Engineering or a BSc degree. Minimum 3 years in product compliance, regulatory affairs, product testing or product engineering. Experience with South African legislation (NRCS, SABS, etc.) and international standards (ISO, CE, REACH, RoHS, etc.). In-depth understanding and ability to interpret laws, regulations and standards. Experience working with international regulatory bodies. Previous experience in automotive, outdoor or consumer goods industries will be beneficial. Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings. Proficiency in engineering calculations and analysis methods, including finite element analysis (FEA). SolidWorks Simulation experience preferred. Willing to take a hands‑on approach to product testing and validation. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify compliance and technical issues and develop solutions. Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and project management capabilities.
