About the Role
The Trainee Accountant will be based in Centurion and reporting to the Finance Manager responsible for the operations for Red & Black Finance.
The Trainee Accountant will be an integral part of the Red & Black finance team, focused on managing operations as well as other key duties for the different business lines, providing support for Red & Black Finance.

Key Responsibilities
The role will be diverse, and the key responsibilities include:

Accounting processing
• Monthly processing of Salaries and Wages
• Processing and submission of relevant regulatory returns with authorities (SARS & HMRC)
• Monthly preparation of trail balances (income statements and balance sheets)
• Prepare management financial statements for clients;
• Preparation and maintaining working paper files throughout the financial year
• Preparation of annual statements for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts;
• Liaise with external auditors for year-end audits to ensure audit timelines are met;
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual budgets and cash forecasts;
• Monitor cash balances and activity to ensure oversight of cash controls;
• Prepare and coordinate quarterly and annual board meeting material including financial and other segments.

Secretarial work
• Completion of annual returns required to be lodge with CIPC

• Preparation of various company secretarial documents to be lodged with the Registrar of Companies or Companies House
Taxation
• Liaise with clients and prepare Provisional Tax computations
• Completion of Income Tax Returns and Calculation of Income Tax
• Liaise with clients and prepare Value Added Tax calculations and advice
General
• Monitor and ensure compliance with timelines in relation to internal and external financial reporting, tax compliance, and ad hoc financial compliance requests.
• Take responsibility to execute discrete projects as discussed and agreed;

Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the following:
• A formal qualification in Accounting, Business, Finance or studying towards an equivalent qualification;
• Solid command of the Microsoft Office suite
