POSITION: Head of Operations
REPORTS TO: Managing Director
INDUSTRY: Engineering
SALARIES: Up to R4.2mil negotiable
AREA: East Rand, Gauteng

Summarized Responsibilities:

  1. Client Relationship Management
    1. Identify and develop strategic relationships with key clients
    2. Maintain strategic relationships with the Company suppliers
    3. Management of Key Accounts strategy
  2. Management of Strategy
    1. Plan and develop strategy
    2. Identify regional opportunities for growth aligned to Company strategic plan
    3. Manage the strategic plan for the Business Units
    4. Ensure alignment on Machines sales, Services, Finance and People strategies
    5. Ensure alignment with the local environment in setting the strategy
    6. Actively participate on the Executive Committee for the organisation
    7. Lead the execution of Safety, Sustainability & Quality; Business Excellence, Site Performance and Continuous Improvement strategy plans
  3. General Management
    1. Implement strategic objectives
    2. Ensure all operations meet SHEQ targets and standards
    3. Monitor and ensure implementation of the regional growth & turn-around plans
    4. Ensure operational capability and capacity
    5. Build lasting relationships with target audience
    6. Support the Sales team in pursuing and growing identified customers
    7. Engage on measures that ensure consistent customer experience across all verticals and through aftersales structures
    8. Cross-functional collaboration
  4. Budget Management
    1. Provide input to the financial planning and budgeting processes for operations
    2. Manage the Profit and Loss for Southern African Operational regions
    3. Monitor the profitability of the services across different portfolios
    4. Instil and drive a cost optimisation culture
    5. Present financial reports and financial performance metrics to the management
    6. Financial and risk management for the business
  5. People Management
    1. Team leading
    2. Build a Positive Workplace Culture
    3. Performance management
    4. Oversee the talent management of direct reports, including career development and succession planning for critical positions
    5. Promote a culture of high performance
    6. Provide effective leadership that ensures employee commitment to the organisation's mission and vision
  6. Corporate, Risk and Governance
    1. Provide assurance that the Greater Africa regions have enterprise-wide risk plans in place to mitigate financial and other related risks
    2. Oversee the implementation of controls within the region to minimise operational risk
    3. Promote a culture of good governance, transparency and accountability
    4. Reporting on business performance

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Minimum 7 - 10 years management experience
  3. Must have mining experience
