FOUNDATION PHASE/ INTERMEDIATE TEACHER (AFRIKAANS AND ENGLISH) AND SPORTS COORDINATOR Hermitage House, an independent, co-educational and dual-medium day school which runs from Crèche to Grade 7 and is situated in the Sundays River Valley, near Addo, invites applications for the following post. The permanent position is available from 1 January, 2026. The start date can be adjusted to accommodate any required notice periods. The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher who holds a Bachelor of Education or a PGCE, must have full proof of SACE registration and a Police clearance certificate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating environment with low pupil numbers per class in the beautiful and tranquil Sundays River Valley. Previous experience in independent education is an advantage, but is not essential. Be well-versed in curriculum and assessment protocols and be able to teach and lead any grade within the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3) and the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–7). Bilingual Communication: Be well versed in the written and spoken language of English and Afrikaans. Learner Understanding: Have a sound understanding of the primary school learner, coupled with a passion about teaching, learning, and young people. Interpersonal Skills: Have good interpersonal and communication skills. School Ethos: Be required to uphold the Christian ethos and values of the School. Sports Coordination: The successful candidate’s job will be the Sports Coordinator for the school.
