Medical Aid rate based on principal member only) To be confirmed Advert Closing Date 10/12/2025 Job Purpose The purpose of the job is to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels according to a set syllabus, to contribute academic leadership in the Department, and to facilitate curriculum design and implementation, and assessment in a variety of programmes and contexts. The incumbent will supervise postgraduate students and convene post-doctoral research. Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Please note that preference will be given to candidates that meet the minimum requirements at Senior Lecturer level). Minimum Requirements: Senior Lecturer A PhD in Nursing or an equivalent qualification. A qualification in nursing education and nursing management. Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse and midwife, nurse educator, and nurseadministrator. At least four (4) years' relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education. Evidence of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience. Evidence of successful research project; postgraduate supervision at master’s level, a successful PhD supervision to completion. A publication and conference presentation record Minimum Requirements: Lecturer Master’s degree in Nursing Sciences or equivalent qualification. At least two (2) years relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education. A three or four-year qualification in general nursing and midwifery. Proof of registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse and midwife Proof of registration with the South African Nursing Council as a nurse educator. A qualification in a nursing clinical specialisation is advantageous. Currently busy with doctoral studies, will be an added advantage. Code 8 driver's licence Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Lecturer in the nursing programmes as offered in the department. Coordinate teaching and learning of the nursing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as required by the departmental needs. Promote scholarship of teaching and learning. Give guidance in curriculum design and implementation in the department and faculty. Develop, implement and review undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Department. Research supervision of postgraduate students. Leadership in postgraduate teaching and clinical programmes within the Department. Contribute to departmental research vision and strategy. Undertake active scholarship/research leading to grants and publications. Contribute collegially to the work of the department, faculty and the university through active participation in academic activities, committees and management. Serve as a leader in mentoring others in teaching and learning in theory and practice. Contribute to the development of skills laboratory activities and clinical practice where needed. Lecturer in the nursing programmes as offered in the department. Partake in skill laboratory activities and assessments in line with SANC requirements, following the nursing standards, coordination of laboratory and clinical placement rosters of staff and students. Curriculum development and theoretical and clinical teaching and assessments in the programme through e.g. monitoring and reporting. Implement and monitor academic, clinical records and progress of students according to SANC regulations, Academic administration from admissions to graduation. Adhere to quality assurance principles in the undergraduate, postgraduate programmes and short courses offered in the Department. Academic and clinical development of student learner nurses within a work-integrated learning and mobile learning situation.
