Job Description Senior software developers at BETSoftware design, implement, test, and maintain high‑performance application solutions for a leading betting software provider that supports large transactional volumes across Sub‑Saharan Africa. Responsibilities Actively contribute to design and planning meetings, discussions and documentation. Design solutions using appropriate architectural patterns to meet performance, resilience, automation and innovation objectives. Ensure design follows best practices and is Test, DevOps and Support friendly. Set objectives/goals for self and team based on chosen development methodology to successfully complete projects. Identify impediments and suggest alternative strategies and refactor approaches for maximum benefit. Formulate supporting plans and communicate dependencies and impact with stakeholders. Deliver solutions that meet agreed specifications, achieve necessary precision and avoid unnecessary steps. Ensure solutions are reviewed, meet throughput, response, and resource utilisation targets, and can coexist with other systems. Guarantee usability by ensuring the system is intuitive, error‑free, accessible, and culturally inclusive. Maintain reliability by designing for fault tolerance, recoverability, minimal downtime, and gradual improvement over time. Implement robust security controls to protect data, enforce appropriate access, and provide auditable logs. Write clean, maintainable code that follows standards, supports future modifications, and is documented for support teams. Develop testable code, create automated testing hooks, and facilitate smooth deployment. Support outages and failures by providing rapid incident response, root‑cause analysis, SOP creation, and risk mitigation. Mentor and coach junior and intermediate team members through guidance, training, and knowledge sharing. Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, versatility, and continuous learning within the team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (advantageous). At least 5 years of experience in a development environment. Strong knowledge of design principles and architectural fundamentals. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Detailed knowledge of the SDLC and software project management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail.
