Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE Act as member of the MEA Medical Affairs team. The Medical Lead will work with the Medical Affairs team in ensuring that Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company, successfully supports and leads the market with respect to medical/scientific engagement interactions, and that Allergan Aesthetics is successful in the positioning of its portfolio of products vs. competitors. The role demands competency in practical aspects of patient care, and ability to use medical and scientific information to facilitate engagement of physicians and others in the clinical and basic science issues relevant to Allergan’s products. The Medical Lead will be responsible for driving projects from concept to execution, and thus must be an innovative self-starter, who takes ownership of tasks and can work independently with direction from direct manager. The Medical Lead is responsible for developing and executing a clear and comprehensive Medical Affairs strategy for country/ cluster, aligned with international, APAC-MEA regional and country-level strategic plans. The medical Lead will be responsible to plan medical budgets and execute the medical plan in line with budgets (tracking and monitoring the budgets), working close with line manager and the finance teams. The Medical Lead should demonstrate our product value through internal and external stakeholder engagement and training based on clinical and scientific data. Is responsible for the management of collaborative relationships with national and regional opinion leaders to ensure alignment of professional opinion, particularly in areas of emerging science and forthcoming product developments. The Medical Lead is responsible for providing clinical and scientific based trainings to local commercial teams (based on therapeutic area as well as product related) as well as training to regional Medical Affairs teams. The Medical Lead will provide support to the local Brand-team and country manager to provide clinical insight, technical expertise and scientific insight to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Also serving on the country leadership team. The Medical Lead is expected to embrace a strong compliance mindset; structure and ways of working, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity to benefit the patients; consumers; customers and employees. The Medical Lead will provide oversight and local management of relationships with investigators undertaking studies under the remit of Global Aesthetics Medical Affairs (GAMA). The Medical Lead should continue to drive an aspiration growth mindset and work closely with all cross-functional teams (including the local AMI™; Brand-team; Finance-team and local leadership team). The Medical Lead is responsible for cross-functional collaboration with the Regulatory; Quality Assurance; Medical Information; Pharmacovigilance and Healthcare Compliance Departments to ensure business continuity and optimal patient outcomes. The Medical Lead is responsible for supporting clinical development and launch pad teams and to ensure participation of EEMEA investigators into AA clinical development program. In addition, support any local RWE Generation initiatives (IIS’s; case studies; case series) initiated by local aesthetic opinion leaders. Medical and Scientific Information Local representative of GAMA activities. Provides in-depth clinical and scientific information relating to Allergan products to internal staff and, on demand, to external customers. Maintains an understanding of AA products and relevant therapeutics across portfolio. Planning and execution of Key Medical affairs programs and projects Set priorities, strategy and activities of Medical Affairs. Develop and execute a Medical Affairs plan to support physicians and other medical professionals, as well as Maintain Allergan Aesthetics’ success in the BU. Work closely with the Regional Medical Affairs team and International / Global Therapeutic Lead to ensure alignment of local activities with those of the region. Key Opinion Leaders Responsible for the management of collaborative relationships with national and local opinion leaders to ensure alignment of clinical and scientific opinion and AA strategy. Organize Lead boards and scientific round table meetings with specialists. Attends relevant scientific congresses to meet with opinion leaders, observe podium presentations and maintain in-depth understanding of scientific and therapeutic advances. Study Support Responsible for screening investigator led study proposals and managing requests in line with Allergan Aesthetics SOPs. Maintains understanding of International, EU and national legal, regulatory, ethical requirements for the conduct of clinical research. Provides support to national investigators participating in Allergan sponsored studies as appropriate. Business Unit and AMI Support Provides scientific support and assistance to country management, as required, to support business needs. Assists in internal and external training events. Advise speakers for congresses, symposia and other events to spread and enhance scientific knowledge. Supports creation and delivery of scientific training and materials. Review promotional materials produced locally. Pursue good synergy - local and international AMI teams. Assist and direct AMI educational initiatives to align to business strategy. Qualifications Qualification and Industry Expertise Medical Doctor, or PhD or MSc / Master’s in Pharmacy with significant experience Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is essential, especially within Medical Affairs (at least 2-3 years) Able to understand the clinical and scientific aspects of different therapeutic areas Excellent command of local language(s) and English Experience engaging with aesthetic professionals (e.g., dermatologists, plastic surgeons, GPs, dentists and medical clinics).
