Watch this short clip to discover how Arup is shaping a better world and how you could be a part of it Role Overview Our South Africa team is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer experienced on water projects to join our dynamic team working on innovative and exciting infrastructure projects in South Africa and globally. Responsibilities Provide technical support for feasibility studies, investigations, and project inputs, and answer technical queries. Contribute to holistic solution designs with expert technical knowledge and integrated designs. Provide technical input for substation construction, refurbishment, and upgrades. Conduct electrical distribution studies and design HV/LV electrical power systems, control systems, SCADA, and telemetry. Offer support and training to junior staff and the wider team. Participate in or lead studies for project planning and contract documentation. Contribute to the development of sub‑consultancy agreements. Attend client and multi‑disciplinary meetings. Visit project sites and provide specialist advice and support to colleagues. Qualifications Electrical engineering tertiary qualification, professional registration with ECSA (or other appropriate institution), or willingness to pursue professional registration. Experience in professional electrical design engineering capacity within a consulting environment or working closely with a consultancy. Understanding and experience of the SANS 10142‑1 national and international standards. Experience producing and interpreting complex or detailed design drawings and documentation. Specialist knowledge: either developing or working within at least one specialist area of electrical engineering. Experience in roles where knowledge of electrical engineering and in particular design was a key attribute. Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems, Trimble etc. Competent with design software as well as other standard products.
